- Odometer disclosure statement: This is a must for vehicles that are nine-years old or newer. The odometer disclosure statement is generally found on the certificate ownership assignment.
- Proof of lien release: If the vehicle you are selling has some active liens on it, you will you must ask the lien holder to release them. That lien holder must also provide evidence to the Oklahoma Tax Commission. If you do not do this, the lien will transfer along with the new car title.
What About Getting a Duplicate Car Title?
To apply for a duplicate Oklahoma title, you must fill out an Application for Duplicate Certificate of Title for Vehicle/Boat/Motor (Form 701-7).
Once you complete this form, you must submit it to the Motor Vehicle Division or any Oklahoma motor license agency.
Additionally, the owners of the vehicle who are on record, must sign the form and have those signatures be in the presence of a Notary Public.
If you summon the Power of Attorney, then you must submit the Actual Notarized Power of Attorney, or a Certified Copy of the Power of Attorney form.

To obtain a duplicate title in Oklahoma, you must also submit an Oklahoma registration, or evidence of out of state residency.
You can show proof of your out of state residency by showing your out of state registration for the vehicle/boat/motor, a rental agreement, a utility bill or out of state driver license with the record owner’s name appearing on the documents.
