Having a car break down on you is inconvenient and can be expensive. If you are unable to get that car fixed right away, you may end up with a junk car on your lawn. A non-running car is an eyesore to your neighbors and a nuisance to you.
If the car is in your garage, it is just taking up space that could be used by another vehicle or for any number of reasons. Getting rid of a junk car is an easy way to get some extra cash.
Where to Sell Old Cars
There are a few ways you can get money for your old car. You should examine each one of them carefully.
Sell Your Car Online
There are multiple websites that will allow you to list your used car online. These sites will charge you a monthly fee to list the specs of your car along with a picture and a price. If you try to advertise your car this way, it may take you a long time to sell it, if you sell it at all.
These websites do not limit the number of people who advertise on them and a person may have to comb through many ads to find a car they want. The only people who will want to buy a junk car are mechanics or junkyard owners.
Once you do get an interested buyer, you will have to take time out of your day to show the car. The potential customer may decide to take a pass. A mechanic may just be interested in buying individual parts of the car; leaving you with a junk car missing parts on your property.
Selling your car online may be dangerous. Many robbers and even murderers have found their victims online. If your car is not running you will have to meet them at your home.
When you sell your car to Cash Cars Buyers, our professional team member will come over to your house and collect your car in as soon as 24 hours. We will use our company truck to tow your car for free and pay you in cash.
Trade-in Your Car
If you buy a new car, the dealership will offer you a trade-in allowance for your old car. If all you have is a junk car to trade-in, this amount is likely to be less than what you would get from a junkyard. Be sure to call us before going into the dealership and we will tell you what your non-working vehicle is worth.
Dealerships rely on the laziness of their customers when it comes to trade-ins. They think you will not do any research before buying your new car and that you will just want to get rid of the old clunker in a hurry. Let them know that you have taken the time to get an offer and that you will sell it to us if they do not match or exceed it.
Car salespeople may also offer you what seems like a very good trade-in amount for your old car. If they do this, be sure to read every line of the new automobiles price break down carefully. They will often try to put the trade-in amount back onto the final price of the car.
Cash Cars Buyers will not try to cheat you. We pay $500 for junk cars depending on the type and condition of the vehicle.
File an Insurance Claim
If you have full insurance on your vehicle, your insurance company should pay for the repairs to your car no matter how it was wrecked. If the price of the repairs exceeds the value of the car itself, the car will be considered totaled. If a car is totaled, the insurance company will pay you what they determine is the value of the car right before the accident.
If you are in possession of a non-working car, there is a good chance you did not have full coverage, but only liability insurance. Kentucky is a no-fault state when it comes to auto accidents. This means that no matter who is at fault, a driver’s own insurance company must pay for their accident-related bills.
As you can imagine, insurance companies don’t like this rule because they have to pay every time someone has an accident. They are unlikely to offer you a fair settlement and you will have to take less money than your car is really worth or hire a personal injury attorney.
If you sell your car to us, you will get more money and avoid the hassle of dealing with an insurance company.
What if I don’t have the title?
If you don’t have a pink slip, you will have to go to the DMV and have it replaced before you can collect insurance money, get a trade-in allowance, or sell the car. They will charge you a fee and you will have to wait for it to arrive in the mail.
We do not always need a pink slip. In most cases, no title is no problem as long as you have your driver's license and a copy of your registration.
